Secondary corrosion protection of FeCr(Al) model alloys at 600 °C – The influence of Cr and Al after breakaway corrosion

The influence of Cr and Al content on the oxidation behaviour FeCr(Al) model alloys after breakaway at 600 °C underlying mechanisms were investigated in detail with thermogravimetrical analysis (TGA), thermodynamic calculations advanced electron microscopy. results showed that a Cr-content ≥18 wt% drastically reduced growth rate Fe-rich oxide scale, formed oxidation, for FeCrAl but not FeCr alloys. This was attributed to ability Fe(18-25)CrAl prevent internal which enables formation healing layer.
